22 Bruzzi Vidal Blanc Dessert

100 Vidal Blanc
This wine not only comes from the first Vidal Blanc planted in Arizona but also the first wine grapes to come from a high elevation, Gila County. It’s exciting to see viticultural efforts charting new territory and revealing amazing new possibilities for Arizona. The Bruzzi Vineyard is farmed by the father and son team of James and Aldo Bruzzi. We crafted this wine utilizing a process that I developed in my “garage” winemaking days (with apples) that our winemaking team has greatly refined. We press the juice from the fruit, freeze it, and then slowly let it thaw. A flavor-concentrated, tart-sugary syrup is liberated from the ice (which is left behind) and is then fermented, but not to dryness. This wine is a dessert in and of itself: think bananas foster, caramel apple, waffle cone, apple pie filling, and dense, syrupy goodness. This is a truly hedonistic dessert wine the likes of which we have not made in years!
