20 Colibri Petit Verdot

100% Petit Verdot
The small block of grapes sits at the highest point in our famed Colibri Vineyard. Each year we look for weight, spice, color, and depth of fruit in this wine, and 2020 is yet another stunning example of this lesser-known Bordeaux variety. Because it is so late ripening, it fell out of favor in France as it tended to produce green, astringent wines. It has been gaining popularity throughout the world in warmer climates and is grown in at least 8 countries now including Australia, Portugal, Chile, and Argentina. It may also see a resurgence in France with warming trends in the region. Mulberry, black cherry, and black currant define this wine with accents of kalamata olive, violets, and white pepper. This is a wine to be enjoyed after at least 3-5 years of cellaring.
