19 House Counoise Rosé

81% Counoise, 19% Grenache
One of our philosophies as winemakers is to “get out of the way” whenever possible...honoring the truest expression of the fruit. In 2014, this House Mt. Counoise was originally destined to be a red wine, but when the elements forced our hand to pick before ideal ripeness, we had a decision to make: manipulate this wine into something it wasn’t or honor its true nature. We chose the latter. We fell so in love with the House Mt. Counoise Rosé in 2014, that we now designate that block for Rosé every vintage. The low brix, laser-focused acidity, and complex minerality continue to point to Tavel and the other great Rosés of Southern France. To balance the color and create the signature, old-world salmon color, we added a touch of red Grenache.
