19 Dos Padres Barbera
Hailing from northwest Italy in the great Piedmont region (which contains Barolo, Barbaresco, Alba, and Asti), Barbera is a grape that has always played second fiddle to the great Nebbiolo. In Arizona, though, based on our last 16 years of experience, Barbera produces consistently higher-quality wines with beautiful color and great structure. This small block, perched high at the Dos Padres Vineyard has mixed volcanic soils, faces easterly, and is irrigated from the Page Springs aquifer. The morning sun blesses this site and the afternoon, mistral-like breezes protect it from fungal pressure. Enjoy the intense licorice and dried cherry focus of this wine along with hints of graphite, red raspberry, and cola. A great food wine!
