This wine not only comes from the first Vidal Blanc in Arizona, but also the first wine-grapes to come from high elevation, Gila County. It's exciting to see viticultural efforts charting new territory and revealing amazing new possibilites for Arizona. The Bruzzi Vineyard is farmed by the father and son team of James and Aldo Bruzzi. We crafted this wine utilizing a process that I developed in my "garage" winemaking days (with apples) that our winemaking team has greatly refined. We press the juice from the fruit, freeze it, and then slowly let it thaw. A flavor concentrated, tart-sugary syrup is liberated from the ice (which is left behind) and is then fermented, but not to dryness. This wine is reminiscent of the great sweet wines of Canada, Germany and Austria. Yes, it's super sweet but it's well balanced by razor-like acidity and a massive concentration of flavor. Try it with classic pairings like foie gras, country pate, various chocolates and maybe even blue cheese!
