100% Pinot Gris

Also known as Pinot Grigio in Italy, we chose to use the French name, Pinot Gris (little grey grape) because this wine bears more resemblance to French interpretations. (This is ironic because the grapes were farmed in New Mexico by an Italian immigrant!) A fairly malleable grape to work with, Pinot Gris often expresses the hand of the winemaker strongly. This bottling is comprised mainly of press wine, which was richer and more expressive than the free run (often it is just the opposite). After a slow and cool fermentation, this wine was kept in stainless and was bottled relatively young to preserve freshness. Enjoy the classic ripe apple and pear core of this wine, which is accompanied by accents of wet wool, Marcona almonds and a light hint of nutmeg.
