21 New Mexico Gewurztraminer
The 2021 vintage in our Arizona vineyards saw very low temperatures in the spring and we lost much of our white crop to frost. This led us to reach out to past vineyard relationships to source grapes to fill these gaps. Luckily our friend Paolo De’Andrea at New Mexico Vineyards was able to part with some wonderfully aromatic Gewurtz’ from the vineyard he manages in the Mimbres Valley, near Lordsburg, New Mexico. As expected, this wine is loaded with spicy and exotic flavors, with aromas ranging from lychee and red roses to apricot and honeydew melon. Additionally, the barrel fermentation this wine underwent has brought well-integrated notes of hazelnut and almond along with a subtle, but immutable, yeasty brioche charm. Enjoy this exotic wine with flavorful foods from Southeast Asia, or anything that challenges normal wine pairings.
