The lean granitic soils of Colibri Vineyards in the Chiricahua Mountains of southeastern Arizona produce some of the most distinctive and interesting Syrahs we make. Clones 174 and 474 are grown adjacent to one another on the upper slopes of Colibri – and while the soils and ecological conditions are nearly identical, these genetic differences create noticeable variations in these wines. This clone and block are consistent performers gracing us with classic, northern Rhone-styled wines annually. If you have the time, allow this to age for a few years and compare it to Rhone wines from St. Joseph, Cornas, or Hermitage and enjoy PSC at a fraction of the price.
