In 2010 the Colibri Syrah Clone174 became one of two wines from Arizona that broke the Wine Spectator 90 point barrier for the first time (the other was a Colibri Syrah Clone 99!). Year-in, year-out, this block produces the most rustic, classically old-world Syrah in our whole portfolio. This clone gives us classic black cherry and blackberry as well as loads of fresh potting soil, flint, ash, and dark green herbs. The beauty of this wine is that it is not top heavy in any way: the weight, alcohol, and tannins all balance in a perfect trinity. If you like classic Syrah from the Rhone, this is your wine!
