16 Colibri Grenache
Colibri Vineyards, located in the east-west running Whitetail canyon in the Chiricahua Mountains, is as stunning as its wines are interesting. Remote and beautiful, Colibri sits in a wild and ancient volcanic landscape. Its lean, granitic soils and the relatively cool climate (the vineyard sits at 5200’) produce wines that are well structured and have a marked peppery spice to them. This wine is from the East Block (the biggest block at Colibri) and has a marked, granitic-like minerality along with classic red fruits and herbal spice. You can really taste this place in this wine – so much that I once heard an AZ wine expert refer to Colibri as the “Grand-Cru” of Arizona!
